Samsung’s Space Selfie campaign came to an end just a little bit earlier than planned as the company decided to bring the high-altitude balloon back to Earth ahead of schedule. According to a spokesperson cited by The Independent, the balloon’s planned descent to Earth had already begun when unfavorable weather conditions forced Samsung to prematurely soft-land the unmanned vehicle in a selected rural area. The Space Selfie balloon landed on Saturday morning on a field in Merrill, Michigan. It didn’t damage any properties or cause any injuries, and Samsung apologized for any inconvenience the minor incident may have created.Samsung Space Selfie balloon returns safely to EarthThe idea behind the Space Selfie campaign was simple: send a selfie, group photo, or pet photo to Samsung and you’ll get a chance for the image to be sent into the Earth’s stratosphere along with a Galaxy S10 5G. The photo would then be recaptured on camera with planet Earth serving as the background. The promotional video below explains it all.
