Samsung sold 10 million Galaxy S20 FE units in a year!

Samsung’s first-ever Galaxy S Fan Edition smartphone is a hit. We’re referring to the Galaxy S20 FE, of course, and not the Galaxy S21 FE sequel that got announced in Las Vegas today.

The original Galaxy S20 FE (LTE and 5G) is officially one of Samsung’s best-selling Galaxy smartphones of 2021. Since its launch in September 2020, the Galaxy S20 FE exceeded 10 million sales, confirmed the company today (via 9to5Google).

These results shouldn’t surprise anyone who has followed the story of the Galaxy S20 FE since its release. The phone was an instant hit, and by mid-December 2020, it became one of the top three best-selling Samsung smartphones offered by carriers in the USA. It ate up sales from the Galaxy A51, the Galaxy A71, and other, more expensive flagships.

Can Samsung catch lightning in a bottle twice?

Whether or not the Galaxy S21 FE will build upon the success of its predecessor or stain the Fan Edition brand remains to be seen. However, it’s worth noting that Samsung has reportedly lowered its Galaxy S21 FE sales expectations as soon as it knew it had to delay the phone’s release.

As for the Galaxy S20 FE, it was a great phone at launch, and it remained unbelievably good six months after its debut. It still is a decent phone today, as it shares a lot with the Galaxy S21 FE, the latter of which lacks expandable storage but comes with a newer chipset and better firmware.

In case you’re interested, you can still buy the Galaxy S20 FE 5G from Samsung for $699. The company appears to be holding on to that full retail price, as of this writing.
