Samsung releases kernel source code for Galaxy Z Flip 4, Z Fold 4

Samsung is the best in the Android segment when it comes to software updates. The company releases security updates quickly and often. It is also among the first to release stable versions of major Android OS updates to its smartphones. The company is now taking more step and releasing the kernel source code for its new foldable phones.

The South Korean firm has released the kernel source code for the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and the Galaxy Z Fold 4. It will now be easier for developers to develop custom ROMs for these foldable phones. Some regular app developers can also take advantage of the kernel source code to improve their apps. If you are a developer, you can download the kernel source code for the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and the Galaxy Z Fold 4 from Samsung’s open source website.

The folks over at XDA Developers note that the kernel source code is only available for unlocked versions of the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and the Galaxy Z Fold 4. Since carrier-locked versions of the phones usually come with the OEM unlocking option disabled, it will be hard to unlock those phones and use the kernel source code and flash custom ROMs.

Do you use custom ROM on your Samsung smartphone? If yes, why do you use it, and what advantages do you notice? Let us know in the comments section below.
