Samsung on track to launch Galaxy S23 series early next year
Now that Samsung has launched all of its high-end smartphones for 2022, the focus is slowly shifting to the Galaxy S23 series. And the company seems on track to launch the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and the Galaxy S23 Ultra early next year.
The battery that will be used inside the Galaxy S23+ has appeared in a certification database. Safety Korea, a South Korean agency that certifies batteries, has certified the Galaxy S23+’s battery. In comparison, the Galaxy S22+ battery was certified in September 2021, and that could mean that the Galaxy S23 series could be launched in February 2023.
As per the battery’s model number (EB-BS916ABY), it will be used in the SM-S916B, which is the Galaxy S23+’s model number. The battery is manufactured by China’s ATL (Ningde Amperex Technology Limited), which also makes batteries for the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and the Galaxy Z Fold 4. You can see the image of the battery below.
Unfortunately, the image is quite blurry, and the text printed on the battery is unreadable. So, we don’t know the Galaxy S23+ battery capacity yet. The South Korean firm might not change the battery capacity by a lot as power efficiency improvements of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and the OLED panel might be enough to improve the battery life.
It is possible that the Galaxy S23 and the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s batteries will be certified soon, and hopefully, we can have clearer pictures to know their battery capacities. All upcoming high-end phones from Samsung could bring display and camera improvements, faster processors, and new software features.
