Samsung officially announces One UI 5.0 at SDC22, coming this month!

After weeks of testing the Android 13-based One UI 5.0 firmware update through a handful of beta releases in select markets, Samsung finally discussed at large the new version of One UI during SDC22 moments ago. The One UI 5.0 update is almost ready to leave the beta stages, and the firmware’s debut is closing in fast.

So far, Samsung has released four One UI 5.0 beta updates for the Galaxy S22 series in a few markets. It’s unclear whether the fourth beta release will be the last, and the exact date when the update will leave the beta stages and grace the Galaxy S22 lineup on the public firmware branch remains unknown. Nevertheless, the Samsung Developer Conference 2022 went live moments ago, and the company has narrowed down the update’s availability for us. Galaxy S22 customers everywhere will be able to enjoy the latest version soon.

One UI 5.0 is almost here, coming this October for the Galaxy S22!

As far as Samsung fans are concerned, One UI 5.0 has been one of the most anticipated releases of the year, next to the latest foldable devices and wearables released a couple of months ago, and the Galaxy S22 lineup announced in February. Once finalized, the new One UI 5.0 update will bring a variety of new features and changes, including (but not limited to): more lock screen customization options inspired by the LockStar Good Lock module, an expanded Color Pallette feature, improved permissions notification customization options, a slightly redesigned quick toggle area, better animations, Stacked Widgets, and call background effects for individual contacts.

At SDC, Samsung confirmed that the One UI 5.0 update is planned to leave the beta stages and roll out publicly for the Galaxy S22 later this month. We’re midway through October, so it won’t take much longer before we can all enjoy this new update. We’ll keep you posted as soon as we find out more about an exact release date, and until then, feel free to check out our One UI 5.0 hands-on videos below for a closer look at some of the latest additions to the proprietary Android skin.
