Samsung monthly updates: October 2022 security patch gets detailed

Earlier this week, Samsung released the October 2022 security update to some of its smartphones. However, the company had not revealed which vulnerabilities it has fixed with its new software update. Today, the company published its detailed documentation on its security webpage.

Samsung’s October 2022 security patch includes 32 fixes from Google and 18 fixes from its own team

The South Korean smartphone giant revealed that it has fixed over 50 security vulnerabilities with its October 2022 security patch. It includes one critical patch and 31 high-priority patches. While Google’s own October 2022 security patch contains 51 fixes, some of those were released by Samsung in the September 2022 security patch.

Samsung revealed that it also included 18 additional patches that fixed security vulnerabilities found in Galaxy smartphones and tablets. Some of those vulnerabilities allowed unauthorized users to access call information, the device’s serial number, configuration data, secure memory content, and allowed them to perform malicious actions.

Some Galaxy smartphones with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855+ and Snapdragon 865 chipsets allowed attackers to access memory access faults. A few other vulnerabilities allowed unauthorized persons to access the device’s MAC address via Bluetooth and perform code execution.

You can read more about these vulnerabilities on Google’s and Samsung’s websites.
