Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 video teardown exposes its innards

Following his now-classic “durability test” conducted a few days ago on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4, today YouTuber Zack from the JerryRigEverything channel is back with the traditional sequel, which is the teardown. It’s all recorded on video for your viewing pleasure, and embedded below.

If you like seeing the insides of phones more than what they look like on the outside, this type of video is definitely for you. Being a foldable device, the Fold4 is even more intriguing than a usual slab-type handset, and Samsung has also claimed to have redesigned the hinge. Is that true? See for yourself in the video.

The Galaxy Z Fold4’s flexible inner screen is made of a few different layers, which are all exposed during the teardown at the expense of the display never working again – since it may be okay with folding in one direction, but it definitely doesn’t like being folded any other way. There’s also a new metal plate underneath the display assembly, and a new cutout for the under-display camera.

The outer screen’s glass is inlaid into a metal frame which makes removal without destroying it very difficult, and after unscrewing dozens of screws, all of the internal components can be accessed once the screens are gone. The batteries are held in place with high amounts of adhesive and there are no pull tabs, making battery removal and replacement more of a chore than it needs to be.
