Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 wireless charger just got certified by the RRA

Samsung has cleared a regulatory hurdle in anticipation of the Galaxy Watch 5 release. The Galaxy Watch 5 charging dock got certified today, with a few details popping up online at the Korean Radio Research Agency.

The Galaxy Watch 5 charger has model number “ER-OR900.” It corresponds to the “EB-BR900ABY” model number that was linked with the Galaxy Watch 5 battery not long ago.

As a reminder, Samsung refers to the Galaxy Watch 5 series by the “SM-R9xx” model number. “R9” is the common link binding the upcoming series.

The design of the Galaxy Watch 5 wireless charger is unknown, but it could be shaped like a puck, similar to the flat charging dock of the Galaxy Watch 4 (and older) models.

Charging speeds weren’t mentioned in the RRA online filing. However, the Galaxy Watch 5 smartwatch should get a bigger battery. The smaller Watch 5 variant appears to be powered by a 276mAh battery rather than a 247mAh unit.

Samsung could also release a mid-sized Galaxy Watch 5 model codenamed “Heart-L.” It’s associated with model number “SM-R91x.” A third Galaxy Watch 5 variant is also possible, codenamed “Heart-Pro.” It could bear model number “SM-R92x.”

Fans expect Samsung to unveil the Galaxy Watch 5 series at the yearly Unpacked event in August-September.
