Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic revealed in new leak

We know Samsung’s next smartwatch is coming this summer, and now a series of leaked renders seem to show what we can expect when it’s unveiled. It looks like we’ll be saying hello to the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic.

The folks at Android Headlines have managed to get hold of some pretty official-looking renders showing off Samsung’s next smartwatch, which will run on software that combines Samsung’s Tizen with Google’s Wear OS and will be known just as Wear.

Along with showing the upcoming watch from multiple angles, it also confirms that Galaxy Watch 4 Classic name, which may indicate that Samsung is planning different models for its next watch.

This is an approach it adopted with its Gear S3 watch when it introduced a rugged Frontier option and the more premium Classic version.

It may well be that we get a Galaxy Watch 4 Active to offer a sportier alternative to the Watch 4 Classic.

In terms of what these images tell us about the Classic, they will be available with silver and black cases along with matching straps.

There are two physical buttons and it appears that physical rotating bezel is still place too. Images of the rear casing indicate it will come with 5ATM water resistant rating, which would make it suitable for swimming. It’ll also carry a MIL-STD-810G military certification to enhance its durability credentials.

In addition to the images, the publication believes it knows more details about the Watch 4 including cases sizes, which will be 42mm, 44mm and 46mm. There will be stainless steel and aluminium case to pick from along with white, grey and black color models. They’ll all work with removable 20mm bands and come boxed with small/medium and medium/large bands.

We can expect Gorilla Glass DX for the displays used on the stainless steel Watch 4 and Gorilla Glass DX+ on the aluminium versions, which might point to a different in price point for the two case options.

There’s not much we can glean from the watch faces. The date displayed is the 28th, which might hint towards when the smartwatch will launch. Incidentally, it was 28 June when Samsung unveiled the One UI that will feature on top of Google’s Wear OS at its virtual MWC 2021 event.

As a reminder, Samsung is teaming up with Google to build a new version of Wear, which will also have strong fitness tracking influences courtesy of Fitbit.

Samsung also confirmed that its next Galaxy Watch will be unveiled at an Unpacked event this Summer. There’s already strong rumors that Unpacked event will be taking place 3 August, which wouldn’t mean a long wait at all to see if this is what the Galaxy Watch 4 will look like.
