Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 wireless earbuds are getting a new update

Samsung’s newest wireless earbuds, the Galaxy Buds 2, are getting a new firmware update. It appears to be a minor release, promising the usual security and stability improvements.

The update weighs around 3MB and carries firmware version R177XXU0AVE1. As of this writing, it’s available in South Korea, but the Buds 2 in other markets should receive the same update soon.

Samsung’s official changelog tracker for the Galaxy Buds 2 in South Korea doesn’t mention much. It’s a small update and doesn’t seem to introduce any new features. However, the update should improve security and stability.

The Galaxy Buds 2 did receive a more exciting firmware update a couple of months ago when Samsung added support for 360 audio. The 360-degree audio feature isn’t flawless, but it’s there for anyone who wants to use it, and could improve with future updates.

Galaxy Buds 2 customers can download the new firmware via the Galaxy Wearable app on their connected smartphones. We’ll keep you posted if we find out more about availability, but keep an eye on the Wearable app, and if everything goes well in South Korea, you should soon have the option of downloading the new firmware in other markets.
