Samsung finally moves the needle on Galaxy S24 One UI 8 development!

At long last, One UI 8 firmware for the Galaxy S24 series phones has been spotted on Samsung’s servers (via Tarun Vats). Over the last couple of months, we have gotten access to early One UI 8 (Android 16) builds for devices like the Galaxy S25, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and even the Galaxy Z Fold 5, but development on One UI 8 firmware for the Galaxy S24 lineup was seemingly stuck in limbo.

But that’s finally changing. One UI 8 test firmware for the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s international model is now online on Samsung’s servers. Perhaps we will be able to access this firmware and take it for a spin, though we would prefer Samsung lets users test One UI 8 on their Galaxy S24, S24+ or S24 Ultra through the official beta program.

Unfortunately, Samsung has given us no indications that it’s planning to expand the beta program to devices other the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra. Samsung hasn’t said it won’t do so in the future, but for now, we suggest keeping your expectations low.

One UI 8 will be the second major OS upgrade for the Galaxy S24 series. That’s the second of seven such major updates that Samsung has promised, though One UI 8 is rather boring when it comes to new features and functionality.
