Samsung continues to impress: Galaxy S21 series gets January security update

Samsung isn’t just happy releasing the Android 12 upgrade to as many devices as possible before other manufacturers wake up and realize what’s happening. The company is continuing to work on standard updates, as well. The Galaxy S21 series, which was the first to get the stable version of Android 12 and One UI 4.0, is now getting a new security update, for example.

The January security patch has now been released for the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra. The newest update for these flagships comes with firmware version G99xBXXU4BULF and is rolling out in the Netherlands at the moment but should soon make its way to other markets.

In addition to all the security fixes included in the January patch, this update also improves “overall stability of functions”, which means that it probably includes some general under-the-hood improvements and bug fixes. Hopefully, issues that users have been facing on Android 12 have also been ironed out.

As with other updates, this one can be downloaded over the air from the phone’s Settings » Software update menu. Wish to upgrade manually? You can download the latest firmware from our archive and use a Windows PC for that, though you will want to make sure you’re downloading the right firmware for your model and country before proceeding.
