Samsung conducts Security Tech Forum 2020 as an online event

Samsung held the Security Tech Forum (SSTF) 2020 earlier today. This was the fourth year when the South Korean tech giant held its annual security tech conference, and due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and related travel restrictions, the event was conducted online. SSTF 2020 was held with the theme “Time to Rethink Privacy.”Every year since 2017, Samsung has expanded its software base in the field of security with its annual tech conference. Samsung Research President Seung Hyun-Jun stressed the importance of security in today’s world saying, “Today’s IT systems are huge, but they are very vulnerable to attack. Security is now so important that it dominates the success and failure of a company, and defense against security threats must always be prepared. As our online lifestyle continues to expand each year, and this change accelerates due to COVID-19, digital security and privacy will face bigger and more important challenges in the future.The company said that it takes privacy and security seriously and that these two aspects are essential to create the world’s best products and services. Seung mentioned during his keynote that Samsung continues to work on security technology not only for technical research but also for ethics, human rights, and social values.

SSTF 2020 was also attended by Hwang Yong-Ho (Chief Executive of the Security Team of Samsung Research’ Security Technology Division), Ahn Gil-Jun (Head of the Security Team of the Wireless Division), and Professor Elisa Bertino of Purdue University (global security expert), Professor Nicolas Papernot of the University of Toronto, and Professor Chang Young-Jin from the Oregon State University.Ahn Gil-Jun and Hwang Yong-Ho delivered speeches on the topic of privacy and security for secure user experience. Elisa Bertino talked about the hacking attacks and methods in the 5G network environment. She also spoke about security in AI, big data, and machine learning. Samsung also discussed the security technologies it uses in its products. Hacker’s Playground was held online, making it possible for more people to attend it.
