Samsung Chromebooks could soon get charging sound effects

Google’s ChromeOS is quickly becoming a viable alternative to Windows and macOS, especially for those with a workload that mainly involves browsing the web. Google has also been adding many new features and integration with Android devices. Now, the company is planning to add a small but useful new feature.

Currently, the only way to know if a ChromeOS device is charging is the visual cue visible from the battery icon. But according to 9To5Google, ChromeOS could soon get four new sound effects related to charging and low battery. When you connect the charger, chromeOS-based devices can play three different sound effects, depending on the current battery charge level. All three effects are similar, featuring a warm synth sound with slight variations.

Then there is a higher pitch swoop sound when the device’s battery charge level falls to 15%. This is even better than most Android smartphones, tablets, and wearables. As expected, these sound effects won’t play when the Chromebook is in the Do Not Disturb mode.

These sound effects are currently in development, so they won’t arrive on ChromeOS-based devices in the stable form before ChromeOS 110, which is scheduled to be released in February 2023.

1. Charging When High Battery

2. Charging When Low Battery
