Samsung adopts more Exynos chipsets for its low-end smartphones
According to a new report by BusinessKorea, Samsung is increasing the use of the Exynos chipsets in its low-end smartphones. Additionally, the company has shifted its focus from developed markets to emerging markets to boost its presence. The recently launched Galaxy A13 in the North American market is the latest example of the company using Exynos SoC.
The Galaxy A13 comes in two variants: LTE and 5G. The LTE variant is powered by the Exynos 850 processor, whereas the 5G model is powered by Taiwan’s MediaTek Dimensity 700.
Expect to see more Exynos chipsets in Samsung’s affordable phones
The Samsung Galaxy A13 is the successor to the world’s best-selling smartphone model, the Galaxy A12. As per research firm Omida, Samsung shipped 51.8 million units of the Galaxy A12 in 2021.
Besides, the Galaxy A12 is the first smartphone in the world to ship over 50 million units. It was powered by the MediaTek Helio P35, and it is considered that the Galaxy A12 played a huge role in MediaTek’s rise in the industry. Fast forward to 2022, and the Galaxy A13 is also expected to be a huge hit.
The Exynos 1280 processor powers the Galaxy A53 and Galaxy A33, which were launched last month. The processor is based on a 5nm process and topples the Dimensity 900 SoC at the GPU clock speed. Since Samsung Electronics is producing better and more efficient Exynos processors, the increased usage of the indigenous processor makes sense.
