Rockley Photonics CEO leads speakers at Wearables London event

Rockley Photonics CEO Andrew Rickman will lead an exciting roster of speakers at a Wareable event in London.

Wareable Presents: Wearables London is the reboot of a successful series of events – and Wareable is taking an active role. And we’ve assembled some top speakers to talk about the world of wearable tech in 2022 and beyond.

The free event will be free at Techspace Shoreditch in London on Tuesday 28 June at 7PM. Just sign up here to be there on the day (Eventbrite).

Rockley Photonics

Leading the line is Andrew Rickman, CEO of Rockley Photonics. His company has become one of the leaders in the race to advanced non-invasive biosensors for markers, including the tracking of glucose.

Rockley’s clinic-on-a-wrist measures biomarkers for blood oxygen, blood pressure, body hydration, core body temperature, heart rate, heart rate variation, and respiratory rate.

Rockley Photonics’ work has been thrust into the limelight as a supplier to Apple – and just last month it revealed the results of successful trials of its hydration tracking metrics.

Andrew Rickman will lead a fascinating talk on future biosensors and consumer wearables, and exactly where we’re heading in the next few years.

Femtech and wearables

Next up is Issy Towell, wearables analyst at CCS Insight, who has been leading important research into Femtech, and the development of wearables with women in mind.

Issy has studied how poorly women have been represented in the development of wearable tech hardware, and on-going issues with the implementation of software features such as cycle and fertility tracking. You can check out her blog the issues here.

Issy’s talk will touch on the historic biases at play, how that’s (hopefully) changing, and what needs to happen for women to be better represented by wearable devices.

The Wearable Tech Museum

Finally, Ben Wood, chief analyst at CCS Insight and James Stables, Wareable co-founder and editor, are going to join forces on stage for a fun look at some iconic wearables that got us to where we are today.

Ben will be bringing some classic wearables from his impressive archives and discussing how far wearables have come – and what might be next.

Finally, Ben, Issy and Andrew will come together for a panel discussion – with plenty of time for questions.
