Resident Evil Village crosses 6.1 million copies sold

Publisher Capcom is reporting another year of record high profits, driven primarily by digital content, alongside solid sales updates for some of its more recent games.

Resident Evil Village sales have reached 6.1 million copies sold, per Capcom’s latest financial results for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2022. Resident Evil Village previously reached 5 million copies shipped worldwide as of October 2021. The best-selling games in the Resident Evil franchise are Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and the Resident Evil 2 remake, which launched in 2017 and 2019, selling over 10 million copies and 9 million copies, respectively.

During the fiscal year, Capcom recorded a record 32.6 million units sold across all its franchises, which the company notes was driven primarily by the launch of Resident Evil Village and Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, the latter of which has now sold over 1.5 million copies worldwide.

Looking ahead, Capcom is currently working on Street Fighter 6, though little is known about this next big entry in the iconic fighting game franchise right now. Capcom is also widely reported to be working on a remake of Resident Evil 4.
