Reminder: No new Galaxy Note flagship is coming in 2021

The Galaxy Note series is extremely important for Samsung, and there has been at least one Galaxy Note device every year since the launch of the original Galaxy Note. However, the company won’t launch any new Galaxy Note smartphone this year, which might disappoint many Galaxy Note fans.

It was being rumored last year that Samsung will kill the Galaxy Note series and that the Galaxy Note 20 and the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra would be the last devices in the lineup. However, DJ Koh, co-CEO of Samsung’s IT and Mobile Communications division, confirmed during Samsung’s 52nd annual shareholder’s meeting earlier this year that the company will launch a new Galaxy Note smartphone next year.

Apparently, the company decided not to launch the Galaxy Note 21 (tentative naming) in 2021 due to the global chip shortage and a clash with the Galaxy S21 Ultra, which supports the S Pen. The South Korean firm intends to launch a new Galaxy Note device sometime next year when the chip shortage problem minimizes a bit.

If you were thinking of buying a new Galaxy Note series device this year, you won’t be able to do so. As an alternative, you can either buy last year’s Galaxy Note 20 or Galaxy Note 20 Ultra or you can buy the Galaxy S21 Ultra and get an official case that comes with an S Pen and a silo to store the stylus. You can also wait for another month and buy the Galaxy Z Fold 3, which is also compatible with the S Pen.

If Samsung launches a proper Galaxy Note series smartphone in the second half of 2022, it could feature a large Super AMOLED display with an under-display selfie camera, an S Pen, the Exynos 2200 processor with AMD mRDNA2 GPU (Snapdragon 895 in some markets), and a high-capacity battery with fast wired charging and fast wireless charging.
