Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon X70 modem could make the Galaxy S23 a 5G monster

The ongoing Mobile World Congress is witnessing some great launches. Qualcomm took the wraps off its new Snapdragon X70 5G modem, which comes with some exciting capabilities. This Qualcomm Snapdragon X70 5G modem could very well be used in the Samsung Galaxy S23 smartphones along with other 2023 flagships.

This new Snapdragon X70 5G modem will be built on the 4nm fabrication process. Notably, the chipset comes with increased and improved uplink and downlink speeds. It will be coupled with the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, which will go official later this year.

The Snapdragon X70 5G modem has a downlink speed of up to 10Gbps

The interesting part about this new modem is that Qualcomm is sticking to the 10Gbps download speed it introduced with the Snapdragon X65, X60, X55, and X50 generation modems. Instead of bumping the Gbps numbers, Qualcomm is embedding new advanced features and AI capabilities.

Moreover, Qualcomm says that the Snapdragon X70 5G is the only comprehensive 5G modem-RF system in the world with an AI processor built-in. The AI processor is there to help in the management of superior mobility and coverage and also in adaptive antenna tuning for up to 30% improved context detection.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon X70 5G chipset offers up to 10 Gbps downlink speed and a maximum of 3.5Gbps upload speed. However, the real-world performance will vary. It is also the first commercial 5G modem that supports every commercial 5G band from 500MHz to 41GHz. Additionally, it is 60% more power efficient, thanks to the 5G PowerSave Gen 3 technology.
