While this year brought the first steps into the world of 5G, 2020 will be the year of large-scale 5G expansion. Currently, if you have access to a 5G network the choice of devices that support it are pretty limited and all these phones come with a premium price tag. One way which Qualcomm will tackle this issue next year is by introducing 6 and 7 series Snapdragon SoCs with integrated 5G modems.

While the Snapdragon 8 Series is already powering the first wave of 5G capable phones and will continue to do so in the flagship sector next year, the chipmaker wants to expand its 5G presence in more affordable devices.

Leading smartphone makers like Oppo, realme, Redmi, Vivo, Motorola, HMD and LG are all set to incorporate Qualcomm’s upcoming 5G platform in their midrange offerings with the new Snapdragon 7 series.
