There have been a lot of great games released in 2021 but my own personal game of the year is Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. I love Marvel anyway, and the Guardians of the Galaxy is one of my favorite franchises, but it’s so well done it’s impossible not to be impressed. And even if you’re not a fan but you’re sick of the constant push of live service and multiplayer titles, this is the antidote.

The soundtrack is also amazing on this game. Music is a huge part of Guardians of the Galaxy and Eidos Montreal really nailed it. Not only is it full of 80s bangers but the developer team formed their own band, Star-Lord, and recorded a full original album. In this universe, it’s Peter Quill’s favorite band from his teenage years on Earth that gives him the name Star-Lord.

If you’re on Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S you’ll have full optimization, and as with most Xbox titles, it’s one purchase and you can play cross-gen. This is the lowest price the game has been since launch and it’ll not be around for long, so get on it. The galaxy needs you.
