Pixel 4 video teardown shows it’s not the easiest phone to take apart

The Pixel 4 lineup is making its way to more markets and this brings more opportunities for a teardown. The folks over at PBKreviews went ahead and opened up the smaller Pixel 4 on video, giving us our first detailed look at the phone’s internals.

Getting inside requires the usual process of removing the SIM tray and cutting through the adhesive holding the glass back to the frame. There’s several T4 Torx screws that hold a cover over the battery connector. After the battery is disconnected we can see the wireless charging pad on the inside of the back cover. We also see the two optically stabilized camera sensors.

Several more brackets, connectors and screws later and the battery is finally ready to be removed through the three yellow stretch-release adhesive tapes. Going back to the cameras and more precisely above them, we have a whole bracket with the front-facing cameras and sensors all of which are facing towards the screen.

The brand new Soli chip is housed in a separate board alongside the earpiece. Replacing the screen would require disassembling the phone which is always a tedious process.
