Philips’ 27-inch Brilliance 4K monitor kills cable clutter with USB-C
If you’re looking for a solid way to dock your laptop without a ton of cables all over your desk, Philips’ latest monitor may be worth a look. The new Philips Brilliance 27 4K comes with a built-in USB-C dock, allowing you to connect to both the monitor and your keyboard, mouse, ethernet, and more with a single cable.
As the name suggests, the monitor packs a 27-inch 4K display and supports a 4K image up to 60Hz. The IPS display is flanked by relatively thin bezels, and it’s rated 122 percent of the sRGB gamut. Philips also claims a contrast ratio of 1,000:1 and a 5ms response time.
Where the monitor comes in handy is if you have a laptop with USB-C ports and frequently move between working at your desk and on the go. With the built-in dock, you can charge your PC and connect to your USB, DisplayPort, HDMI, and Ethernet ports with one USB-C cable.
Philips has also built in a low blue light mode and flicker-free features to reduce eye strain, as well as a sensor that can detect when no one is in front of the monitor and dim the display.
If you just picked up the new Surface Pro 7 or Surface Laptop 3, the Philips Brilliance 27 4K monitor could make a nice companion for your desk setup.
