People in the UAE are lapping up Samsung’s new foldables

The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is proving to be a success in many markets. Samsung’s new foldable flagship hit record sales in South Korea last month, and pre-orders were through the roof in several countries, including Thailand and Australia. Even more recently, Samsung Gulf Electronics revealed that Galaxy Z Fold 3 pre-order figures in the UAE were a whopping eight times higher compared to last year.

Gone are the days when Samsung’s foldable phones were a rare commodity. Last year in Dubai, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 was showcased only at the Harvey Nichols luxury store during the pre-order period. This year, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 was available for pre-purchase through additional channels, and people have indeed pre-ordered the latest model in spades. At least relative to last year.

Galaxy Z Fold 3 pre-orders increase almost tenfold

Exact Galaxy Z Fold 3 pre-order figures in the UAE weren’t disclosed, but an 8x increase over last year is significant regardless. And according to Khaleej Times citing Samsung Gulf Electronics Senior Director of Mobile, the response from customers shows that the company is strengthening its market position “by ensuring high customer satisfaction” and “going beyond the limitations of a traditional smartphone.”

Indeed, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is anything but a traditional smartphone — even when it’s folded shut and tries acting like one. It’s also the first Samsung foldable phone to have UDC (under-display camera) and S Pen support, so there’s a lot to love about it.
