Panasonic Toughbook A3 is a rugged 10-inch Android tablet with swappable batteries

Panasonic’s signature Toughbook line just got its newest member with the Toughbook A3 Android tablet. It brings a 10.1-inch LCD with 1920×1200 pixel resolution which can crank up to 800 nits of brightness. There’s also a set of 5 configurable physical buttons around the bezel as well as volume controls and a power button. It features dual swappable batteries, a built-in stylus, full-sized USB-A and type-C ports as well dual SIM support. The tablet is tailored to first responders, emergency service personnel and field service agents.

Keeping true to the Toughbook heritage, the A3 brings IP65 water and dust resistance and is MIL-STD-810H compliant. It also comes with the Panasonic Compass suite for enterprise management tools. The A3 can be tailored for specific client’s needs with a barcode scanner, smart card reader or a second USB-A port. It boasts a 5MP selfie cam and a single 8MP shooter on the back.

Under the hood, we have the Snapdragon 660 alongside 4GB RAM and 64GB storage which is expandable via the microSD slot. The software front is covered by Android 9 Pie. There’s also support for all major Global Navigation Satellite Systems.

The tablet ships with two 3,200 mAh batteries which are rated at 8 hours continuous usage and can be swapped while the table is working. Panasonic is also offering 5,500mAh cells which can push the usage time to 15 hours on a single charge. Charging is done through a proprietary AC adapter.

The Panasonic Toughbook A3 will retail for £1,182 in the UK and is scheduled to go on sale in August.
