Our Motorola Edge 20 Pro video review is out

Motorola’s Edge lineup has been expanding rapidly over the past year and the Edge 20 Pro is the latest model in the range. With its Snapdragon 870 chipset, 144Hz OLED display and versatile wide, ultrawide and periscope lens camera setup Edge 20 Pro stands at the top of Moto’s hierarchy. With our full written review out the way, we now bring you our video breakdown with Will guiding you through the phone’s pros and cons.

With Gorilla Glass 5 on the front and back and a resin-coated aluminum frame Edge 20 Pro feels and looks like a premium device. The matte back hides fingerprints quite well and is easy to grip and handle. The Edge 20 Pro features a water repellant design meaning the internals have been sealed off though there’s no proper IP rating here.

The 6.7-inch OLED panel is proper nice and outputs full 10bit colors at FHD+ resolution. Coming from a 60Hz display, Edge 20 Pro’s 144Hz refresh rate is a cosmic leap and everything you do throughout the UI feels instantaneous. Most third-party apps and games however are capped at 120Hz which is still plenty fast.

Performance from the Snapdragon 870 is just below top-notch flagship territory which means it runs every demanding task at the highest capabilities but with some throttling. This was especially noticeable in more demining 3D games and benchmarks in our tests. Battery life from the 4,500 mAh cell was impressive, earning a 112-hour endurance rating in our proprietary tests.

The camera department did not disappoint either. The 108MP main cam uses 9-to-1 pixel binning outputting 12MP photos by default. Shots here are good with decent details but the are occasional soft spots in some areas of the frame. The 8MP periscope module upscales shots to 12MP and does a good job at it offering up to 5x optical zoom.

Shots from the 16MP ultrawide snapper are downscaled to 12MP and the sensor offers autofocus and doubles as a macro shooter which as noted in our review is a standout feature in this price point.
