Oppo Find X6 Pro review

Introduction

Meet the best smartphone in the world, one you cannot buy – the Oppo Find X6 Pro. The next generation Find flagship introduces an exquisite design, the most premium OLED panel, the fastest available chip, 100W fast charging, and a trio of premium 50MP cameras with the largest of sensors and with Hasselblad Color Calibration.

Indeed, Oppo’s 2023 flagship is one, if not the best handsets in the world, but there is a catch – it’s available only in China. Just like most of the Xiaomi Ultra models, the Find X6 Pro employs everything that is considered cutting-edge at the time of launch, but the maker currently has no plans to release it outside its homeland.

We do admit we were very intrigued by the Oppo Find X6 Pro since its premiere, so it was only natural we review this smartphone as soon as possible. And, oh well, even if Oppo doesn’t expand its availability, the phone is still purchasable through various retailers, so why not at least consider it?

The Oppo Find X6 Pro is the ultimate complete package for a flagship, judging by its specs at least. The phone’s design is a combination of Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and Gorilla Glass 5 or eco leather, there is a metal frame and special metal ring around the camera island. Oh, and the whole thing is IP68-rated for dust and water resistance.

The 6.82-inch OLED screen uses a 1440p LTPO3 panel of 120Hz dynamic refresh rate, 10-bit color depth, and Dolby Vision support. This screen is capable of 1,500 nits of maximum and up to 2,500 nits of peak brightness. This latest generation LTPO should allow for superb refresh adaptiveness and reduce the strain on the battery life.

We do appreciate the flagship hardware, too. The Find X6 Pro is powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, there is a lot of RAM and UFS 4.0 storage, too. The phone also comes with a large 5,000 mAh battery and plenty fast wired (100W) and wireless (50W) charging support.

But nowadays the cameras are usually the most intriguing aspect of a high-end smartphone and that’s also the case with the Find X6 Pro. There are three 50MP cameras on its back – a 1.0″ primary, one of the very few on the market. The ultrawide and the telephoto rely on large 1/1.56″ sensors, some of the largest put on such cameras. Oppo says its periscope tele lens is the most stable on the market, too.

There is a lot more to talk about, so let’s do a quick scroll through the specs and get down to business.

Well, the only thing that looks not as flagship-grade is the selfie camera. It’s blasphemy for such a cameraphone to use a 32MP Quad-Bayer front camera, worse, one that is limited to 1080p video capturing. It’s 2023 and such mediocre shooters should have been limited to the mid-range series, but instead we are seeing them in ridiculously many flagship devices. Come on!

And with that out of the way, let’s unbox the new Oppo Find X6 Pro.

Unboxing the Oppo Find X6 Pro

The Find X6 Pro ships inside a black paper box, which contains a 100W SuperVOOC charger and a USB-A-to-C 10A-rated cable.

But that’s not all. The bundle also contains a case that copies the phone’s back – it has the same split design with a top gray part and a bottom one made of brown eco leather. The case’s top part is made of plastic (the phone’s is glass), but we still appreciate these extra steps and we are glad that many users will get to keep the iconic design even when they are using a case.

By the way, the Black and Green models, which have all-glass rear panels, also come with matching black/green plastic cases with the same matt finish.
