OnePlus Watch is getting a CyberPunk 2077 makeover

The OnePlus Watch CyberPunk 2027 edition is on the way, with a special edition of its debut smartwatch follows the launch of the CyberPunked-up version of the OnePlus 8T smartphone it unveiled in late 2020.

The OnePlus launch has been marred by reports of bugs, and indeed, we’ve been struggling to get through the review dealing with an immense amount of issues. So it’s perhaps ironic that OnePlus has got the licence for a video game which was also widely maligned for launching with a host of outrageous bugs.

You can expect themed watch faces with the case and watch band offering CyberPunk themed colors too. Other than that, it’s set to offer the very same specs as the standard OnePlus Watch.

That means you can expect a 46mm circular watch case and a 1.39-inch AMOLED touchscreen display. It’ll also feature built-in GPS, a heart rate monitor and have the ability to measure blood oxygen levels. You can also expect a music player with room for 500 songs and the promise of up to two weeks of battery life.

The special OnePlus Watch is set to be available in China from 24 May, though there’s no news on pricing. The current version is priced at £149 and we’d anticipate that it’s going to cost a little more to get this one on your wrist.

It follows the news that the limited edition cobalt version of the OnePlus Watch, which was announced alongside the standard edition, has also landed in China. There’s even rumors a Harry Potter edition of the Watch is in the works too.

Whether the arrival of these new editions will be able to save a pretty underwhelming and buggy debut for OnePlus in the smartwatch world is up for debate though. It has since been busy issuing fixes and adding features many expected would be in place when the Watch was first announced earlier this year.

We’re still putting the finishing touches to our testing, but it’s clear with so many strong smartwatches already out there, it was always going to be a tall order for OnePlus to compete. While it’s great to see new looks for its smartwatch, we hope it’s still doing the work making sure the software running on it is in better shape too.
