One UI 5.1 coming to Galaxy S22, Flip 4, and Fold 4 this month
Samsung debuted One UI 5.1 with the Galaxy S23 series. The new version of One UI brings some interesting features. Now that some consumers have started getting their pre-ordered Galaxy S23 units delivered, Samsung is planning to expand the reach of One UI 5.1 to more Galaxy phones, and that will happen as soon as this month.
According to Canadian mobile network carrier Fido, the One UI 5.1 update will be released to the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, Galaxy S22 Ultra, Galaxy Z Flip 4, and Galaxy Z Fold 4 on February 22. If this information is true, the update will also be released to the mentioned Galaxy smartphones in other markets. While Samsung hasn’t announced it yet, One UI 5.1 could come to all phones that have received the One UI 5.0 update.
What’s new with One UI 5.1?
The One UI 5.1 update is based on Android 13. It brings various new features, including an easier way to choose between two selfie color profiles, quicker access to Expert RAW on compatible devices, Shared Family Album in the Gallery app, improved image remastering, GIF remastering, and the option to save screenshots in a custom folder. It also brings AR Emojis for three faces in an image and layout and editing improvements in AR Doodles.
The upcoming version of One UI also features a new battery widget (with two layouts), an improved weather widget, wallpaper and additional settings for Modes & Routines, live collaboration in Samsung Notes, Multi Control feature between Galaxy Book and Galaxy phones and tablets, and media output option for Wi-Fi-enabled speakers. It also improves Samsung DeX (improved window management) and Bixby Text Call.
The update also allows turning an object from an image into a sticker by just long pressing it. By swiping it upwards, you can view more information (EXIF data) about an image or video. The stock Gallery app also features improved search, allowing you to group filters and allowing you to click a person’s face to view more photos containing them.
