One surprising way the Samsung Galaxy F54 beats the Galaxy A54

If you have read our Galaxy F54 review, you know that the F54 offers much better value compared to the Galaxy A54. The biggest advantage the Galaxy F54 has over the A54 is that it runs better despite having the same Exynos chip inside, which becomes even more impressive when you consider the F54 is $100 cheaper than the A54 in India.

But performance isn’t the only area where the F54 has taken the lead over the Galaxy A54. There’s another thing it does better than the A54, one that could be as important as a phone’s performance for some customers, and that’s the size of the display bezels.

The Galaxy A54 took a lot of flak for having gigantic bezels around the display, and rightly so. Samsung made an important change in the phone’s design by switching the plastic on the back for glass (Gorilla Glass 5) for a more premium feel, but it wasn’t enough to offset just how outdated the A54 can look from the front thanks to the big bezels.

Galaxy F54 vs Galaxy A54 bezels: Higher the price, larger the bezels?

On the Galaxy F54, however, the bezels are not a problem. They aren’t that much smaller than the A54’s or as small as the bezels on Samsung’s flagship phones, but they also aren’t an eyesore. And that’s a good thing for usability, too, as the F54 has a larger screen (0.3 inches larger than the A54) and the slimmer bezels help make one-handed use more convenient.

Of course, not everyone cares about the bezels on their phone. Some might prefer having a more premium feel in the hand, which the Galaxy A54 provides thanks to its glass back panel. But we think Samsung is asking you to spend too much for that privilege. Actual meaningful reasons to get a Galaxy A54 would be features like stereo speakers and water and dust resistance, but if those are high up on your list of must haves, the Galaxy A34 is financially the more logical choice.

Getting the Galaxy A54, in short, no longer makes sense, especially in the Indian market, now that both the Galaxy F54 and the Galaxy A34 exist. And it doesn’t look like Samsung cares if it loses out on A54 sales, or it wouldn’t have bothered to launch the Galaxy F54 so soon after the A54 hit retail shelves. But hey, at least it means customers now have more options to choose from, and that’s always a win in our books.

Note: If you live in a market where the Galaxy M54 is available for purchase and is considerably cheaper than the F54, don’t ignore it if you are looking to buy a new phone as the F54 and M54 are the same in all but name.
