October security update rolling out to the Galaxy A80 and A8+ (2018)

Samsung has released the October 2019 security update to a couple of mid-range devices in its lineup. The Galaxy A80 and the Galaxy A8+ (2018) have started receiving the latest monthly patch since yesterday. The former model was launched in April this year, while the latter hit the market early last year.The Galaxy A80 is receiving the update in Peru and Mexico currently, while the update for the older A8+ is out in Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Malaysia.If you haven’t received the OTA notification yet, go to Settings, select Software Update, and tap on the Download updates manually option to manually check and trigger the update. If that doesn’t yield the desired result, you can also download the latest firmware for these devices from our database and manually flash them. You can find the list of all Galaxy A80 firmware here and the Galaxy A8+ (2018) firmware here.As of now, we are not sure if the release brings any new features to these models. There is a higher chance of that happening with the Galaxy A80 since it is both a newer and more expensive model. Do let us know in the comment section if you observe any noteworthy changes after installing the update.Samsung is yet to reveal the security fixes included in the October 2019 update, but a report mentioned that it patches a severe vulnerability in select Galaxy models.
