Honor has officially teased its new Honor Watch GS 3 smartwatch in China. And while the details on specs and features are limited, it’s certainly big on design.

The news came via an official Weibo post, with plenty of pictures, which was spotted by GizChina.

Honor devices have largely been rehashed versions of its former parent company Huawei’s smartwatches, but after the company was sold off last year, this looks like a departure – and for the better.

The Honor GS 3 looks sleeker than the Huawei Watch 3, with two crowns and a polished metal case.

These are publicity renders, so things can (and usually do) look less impressive in the flesh – but the Watch GS 3 certainly catches the eye in terms of thinness and the lack of bezel.

The Weibo post shows off a host of straps and finishes – gold, silver and gun metal with several different leather bands – and have certainly piqued our interest.

The only details we have are from a Weibo post, which reveals the Watch GS 3 packs in an “eight-channel PPG heart rate monitor,” which the company claims is enhanced by an AI processor.

We also have no idea whether the company will use Harmony OS, but we’d suspect it will stick with a proprietary operating system.

It launches alongside a new Honor tablet, which has been given a full run down of specs – so there is an air of mystery about this new GS3 smartwatch.

Honor has released its previous devices in the West – and has enjoyed freedom in the US, away from its former owner’s embargo. So we’re confident that the Watch GS 3 will make its way to Europe and the US in due course – and we’ll be keeping an eye out for further specs and details.
