New fitness apps for Samsung Smart TVs keep you fit in quarantine

Today, Samsung launched six new health and wellness apps on its Smart TV lineup in partnership with barre3, Calm, Echelon, Fitplan, Jillian Michaels Fitness, and obé Fitness. As revealed by the company at the beginning of the year, these fitness platforms are planned to become a part of Samsung Health on its range of Smart TVs. Until that comes to pass later this summer, Samsung and its partners have made the apps available for download independently in a handful of markets. They couldn’t have come at a better time given how many people are stuck at home because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Here’s where you can download these fitness apps on your Smart TV right nowAs of now, barre3 is available on 2018 or newer Samsung Smart TVs in the USA and Canada. Calm is available on 2019 or newer models in Australia, Canada, Brazil, Egypt, France, Germany, Italy, Morocco, Portugal, Spain, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Turkey, UAE, the UK, and the USA.Echelon (which includes indoor cycling training) is available for download on Samsung Smart TVs released (in 2018 or later) in Canada, the USA, and the UK. Fitplan can be downloaded on 2019 and newer TV models in Australia, Canada, the USA, and the UK. Similarly, the Jillian Michaels Fitness App is available in the same countries as Fitplan, with the addition of New Zealand. It is compatible with 2018 and newer Samsung Smart TVs. Last but not least, obé Fitness is compatible with 2018 and newer Smart TV models in Canada and the USA.These apps will integrate with Samsung Health this yearAlthough Samsung Smart TV owners can now download each of these fitness apps separately on their compatible TVs in eligible markets, all of these wellness platforms will be integrated into Samsung Health this summer. However, availability will apparently differ from market to market, at least judging by the company’s latest announcement. For example, the Calm app is now available for download in numerous countries, but this summer it will be integrated with Samsung Health only in Canada, Korea, the USA, and the UK.Also worth noting is that the integration with Samsung Health will happen only on Samsung’s 2020 range of Smart TVs, whereas the independent apps are available on older models.
