MSI’s new high-end gaming monitor uses Samsung’s QD-OLED panel

Samsung Display’s QD-OLED display technology was unveiled in early 2022, and since then, it has been used in several gaming monitors and TVs. Now, MSI has unveiled its flagship gaming monitor, the MSI MEG 342C, which features a 34-inch QD-OLED panel made by Samsung Display.

The MSI MEG 342C is the company’s latest high-end gaming monitor with a 34-inch QD-OLED panel (made by Samsung Display), UWQHD resolution (3,440 x 1,440 pixels), a 21:9 aspect ratio, 1800R curvature, a 175Hz refresh rate, VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 rating, HDR support, and 1,000 nits peak brightness. The ultrawide gaming monitor features a built-in microphone, ambient light sensor, and RGB light bar on the front.

Thanks to the QD-OLED technology, the monitor supports 100% color volume, 0.03ms response time (grey-to-grey), perfect blacks, and less blue light emission for improved eye safety. It supports AMD FreeSync Premium Pro for tear-free and smooth gaming and features an anti-glare coating. MSI is also claiming the color accuracy of ΔE≤2 and a wide color gamut.

To those who worry about screen burn-in in OLED panels, MSI OLED Care software offers several features to reduce OLED screen aging. The monitor has a USB Type-C port with 65W USB PD charging output to connected devices. It has a USB 3.2 Gen 2 hub with two USB Type-A downstream ports. It also features two HDMI 2.1 ports, a DisplayPort 1.4a port, and a 3.5mm headphone+mic combo port. It will go on sale in the second half of this year.
