Moto Watch 100 specs leak ahead of imminent launch

Back in October we reported that a new Moto 360 smartwatch was on the way – and now it seems the full details have leaked.

The unofficial reports come from 91Mobiles, which have the full specs of the Moto Watch 100 and a host of leaked photos.

To quickly recap, the existence of the Moto Watch 100 was revealed in investor material from the parent company CE Brands back in October, which has the license for the Moto 360 brand.

Back to the leak, the Moto Watch 100 looks to retain the classic round-faced design, but the specs point to a decidedly mid-range set of features, which will struggle to stand up to current budget smartwatches.

The photos show a pretty standard design, with an aluminum case, two side buttons and an attractive 20mm strap.

The report indicated that the Moto Watch 100 could feature a 1.3-inch LCD display (not AMOLED which is now ubiquitous) with a middling resolution of 360×360. It will have a fairly small 42mm case, which would make it manageable for smaller wrists, and it’s lightweight at 29g.

However, it will feature GPS, heart rate monitoring and an SpO2 sensor – and there will be the usual array of health tracking.

The Moto 360 was a Wear OS stalwart, but there’s no indication from the rumors about whether it will run Google’s OS or not. Wear OS was present on the 2019 Moto 360 reboot, so it seems likely.

However, now there’s the added question about whether it will run the new Wear OS 3.0 – and it seems we’d need to see a Snapdragon 4100 processor on-board for that to be possible.

When the Moto Watch 100 was confirmed in the CE Brands investor note, it said “The Moto Watch 100, which is designed for an entry level price point, is scheduled to begin mass production in November 2021.”

What CE Brands considers an entry level price is key. We’ll update this story with full information when we get it.
