Microsoft Teams users have been asking for the ability to set automatic recording preferences for meetings. In fact, they’ve been asking since 2018, according to the Teams feedback forum (via MSPoweruser). Fast-forward to 2021, and we now have an answer from Microsoft: the feature is coming.

Though there’s no release date on it, the feature is officially in the works, as told by “Alex (Teams Engineering, Microsoft Teams).”

What this feature means for users is that from now on, you’ll be able to set a meeting to be recorded so that you don’t have to worry about forgetting to manually hit the record button every time you want to tape team meetings. There are a variety of situations this feature could help with, so the sooner it arrives, the better.

As usual, this isn’t all Teams is bringing to the table. Just recently, it’s been on a roll with plenty of other meaningful content updates that are helping keep it up to date with the needs of users everywhere. Be it the Teams GitHub app getting a big content update or Teams supporting new features such as call merging, there’s never a dull day when it comes to what the service is planning on offering people next.
