Microsoft reveals ‘Optimized for Xbox Series X’ badge

Today, Microsoft will reveal the first gameplay for Xbox Series X. Hotly-anticipated titles like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla are expected to be showcased, but there are some major surprises in there too based on what Xbox head Phil Spencer shared on Twitter. It’s definitely going to be an exciting show and we can’t wait to see how games run on the system.

We’re expecting almost all of the games to be either 4K resolution and 60 frames per second (FPS) or 120 FPS. However, only time will tell if Microsoft is able to deliver. It’s up to partners to push the visuals on the console, but having 12 teraflops (TFLOPS) handy — 2 to 3 more than the PlayStation 5 — should help it hit those targets.

Let’s say that you’re browsing Amazon for the latest game release and you’re unsure if it’s optimized for Xbox Series X. Well, all you have to do is look for the “Optimized for Xbox Series X” badge. Just like the “Xbox One X Enhanced” badge, this will tell you if a game will look the best on Xbox Series X or not. It’s unclear if other designations like “4K” or “60 FPS” will be displayed on the box. We should find out in a few hours. Xbox’s Aaron Greenberg said that this goes “way beyond just 4K,” so that could mean that any game with this badge runs at 4K on the console and featured enhanced effects or a high frame rate.

Tune in to Mixer or any other livestreaming platform at 11 AM EDT on May 7 to watch the gameplay reveal. I feel we’re going to be pleasantly surprised by the third-party showcase.
