Microsoft today announced a whole host of Surface devices. Chief among these was a brand new Surface Laptop Studio, along with updates to other members of the Surface lineup.

The Surface Laptop Studio is a 2-in-1 device that functions as a laptop but can also be folded into a tablet-like device.

The Surface Laptop Studio features a 14.4-inch, 2400×1600 resolution touchscreen with 120Hz and Dolby Vision support. The display can be folded into three modes: laptop, stage, and studio. The laptop mode is self-explanatory. The stage mode folds the display forward, hiding the keyboard, making it ideal for watching content or playing games. The studio mode folds the display flat over the keyboard, turning it into a tablet for drawing or note-taking.

The Surface Laptop Studio supports Microsoft’s new Surface Slim Pen 2 with built-in haptics, which can be tucked away under the base where it attaches magnetically and charges when not in use.

Powering the Surface Laptop Studio are quad-core Intel 11th Gen Core i5-11300H and i7-11370H processors, with 16GB or 32GB of memory, and up to 2TB of storage. The base i5 model comes with Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics while the i7 variant gets Nvidia RTX 3050 Ti mobile GPU with 4GB video memory. The Surface Laptop Studio also gets 2x USB 4.0 ports with Thunderbolt 4 support.

The Surface Laptop Studio starts at $1600. Pre-orders start today and the device will ship on October 5.

The new Surface Pro 8 receives a larger 13-inch, 2880×1920 display with 120Hz support (set to 60Hz by default) and Dolby Vision. It offers a choice of dual-core Core i3-1115G4, quad-core Core i5-1145G7, or quad-core Core i7-1185G7 processors with up to 32GB RAM and up to removable 1TB SSD. The Surface Pro 8 also features 2x USB 4.0/Thunderbolt 4 ports.

The front camera has been updated to support 1080p video recording and the 10MP camera on the back is capable of 4K recording. The Surface Pro 8 has dual far-field microphones, 2W speakers with Dolby Atmos. It also supports the new Surface Slim Pen 2.

The Surface Pro 8 starts at $1100 and is available for pre-order today.

The new Surface Go 3 gets updated processor models. You can now have it be configured with dual-core Intel Pentium Gold 6500Y or a quad-core 10th Gen Intel Core i3-10100Y. The rest of it is identical to the Surface Go 2. It starts at $400.

Lastly, the ARM-based Surface Pro X gets a new Wi-Fi-only model, which brings down the starting price to $900.
