Marvel’s Avengers gets free upgrade on Xbox Series X

While Sony has not yet detailed an exact program for determining which PlayStation 4 games are being enhanced on PlayStation 5 for free, one major new game is signing off an upgrade. Marvel’s Avengers is getting a free upgrade on PS5. Anyone who buys the game on PS4 will get an enhanced version on PS5 at no additional cost. It will also support a free upgrade on Xbox Series X for Xbox One owners using Smart Delivery.

We don’t know exactly what features the Xbox Series X version will include but we can guess based on the PS5 version. Extra details as to exactly what enhancements the PS5 version will get were detailed on PlayStation Blog. The PS5 version of Marvel’s Avengers will offer two modes: an enhanced graphics mode and a high framerate mode. The high framerate mode targets dynamic 4K at 60FPS. Regardless of mode, load times are described as “near-instant” thanks to the advanced SSD.

Additionally, Marvel’s Avengers is making use of the DualSense controller, utilizing the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. On top of all this, cross-gen play and cross-save are supported. If you want to play on PS5, your friends on PS4 can still play with you, while your save carries over between consoles.
