Maneater goes up for preorder on Xbox One, runs at 4K on Xbox One X

Have you ever thought about what it’d be like to be a shark? Well, now you don’t have to because there’s a shark simulator of sorts coming to Xbox One on May 22. Maneater is basically about eating your way to the top. It’s a lot like Hungry Shark World from Ubisoft, but it’s much more in-depth and looks a billion times better than the mobile game.

Experience the ultimate power fantasy as the apex predator of the seas. Maneater is a single-player, open-world action role-playing game (ARPG) where you are the shark. Starting as a small shark, you are tasked with surviving the harsh world while eating your way up the ecosystem. To do this you will explore a large and varied open world encountering diverse enemies, both human and wildlife. Find the right resources and you can grow and evolve far beyond what nature intended, allowing the player to tailor the shark to their playstyle. This is fortunate because to get revenge on the cruel fisherman that dismembered you will take evolving into a massive shark, an apex predator of legends.

Maneater features a handful of large environments like gulf coasts, resort beaches, industrial docks, and more. Plus, there’s also a day-and-night cycle thrown in. What’s even better is that the game costs $40, so you won’t break the bank if you decide to follow your dreams and live like a shark. I wonder how many humans the Megalodon-like evolution can fit into its stomach.

The Maneater team at Tripwire Interactive has confirmed that, for Xbox One X and PlayStation 4 Pro owners, Maneater runs at 4K no matter what TV you’re on. This will provide some enhanced image quality on a 1080p TV due to supersampling.
