Love Good Lock? You’ll lose access to some features on One UI 4.0 beta

The One UI 4.0 beta program went live for the Galaxy S21 series yesterday, and fans in several countries can sign up through the Members app and test the beta firmware before it’s ready for a widespread release. As usual, it’s not advised to install beta firmware on your daily driver, and there are certain limitations to consider. For instance, not every Good Lock module is compatible with the One UI 4.0 beta firmware.

A Samsung Community representative addressed this earlier today and confirmed that only a limited number of Good Lock modules are available to One UI 4.0 beta testers. Namely: LockStar, Routine+, One Hand Operation+, Pentastic, Wonderland, ThemePark, NiceCatch, and Edge Touch.

No more Good Lock modules will become available throughout the beta

The Good Lock modules mentioned above will be the only ones available throughout the beta period. According to the Community Manager, the remaining Good Lock module unsupported in One UI 4.0 beta will become available once the beta period ends and One UI 4.0 reaches the public.

Samsung wants to bring One UI 4.0 to the public as soon as possible; however, testing software takes time, and the company will want to make sure that One UI 4.0 is in a good state before it reaches customers. The tech giant aims to release “a final, optimized [One UI 4.0] upgrade later this year.”

As for Good Lock, unfortunately, the experimental platform remains limited to a little over a dozen countries, though there are reasons for its limited reach — the word “experimental” should be a clue. Nevertheless, Samsung confirmed earlier this summer that new Good Lock features are on the way. The company also hinted that the platform could be released in more regions soon.

Keep in mind that the first One UI 4.0 beta build introduces over 60 new features, so there’s a lot to look forward to, even if the beta firmware doesn’t support every Good Lock module.
