Lenovo ThinkStation P620 brings tons of power with Ryzen Threadripper Pro

Lenovo today added the new ThinkStation P620 to its workstation lineup, and it’s an absolute beast on the power front. The workstation is the first to take advantage of AMD’s new Ryzen Threadripper Pro processor. Beyond that, you can expect up to two NVIDIA Quadro RTX 8000 graphics cards and much more.

The Ryzen Threadripper Pro processor is the star of the show here. Previously, Lenovo says, workstations were limited to 18 cores with a single-CPU system and up to 56 cores with a dual-processor system. The Threadripper Pro breaks those barriers with a total of 64 cores and 128 threads in a single-CPU system. It can also hit clock speeds of up to 4.0GHz and includes 128 lanes of PCIe 4.0 bandwidth.

That’s paired with up to dual NVIDIA Quadro RTX 8000 graphics, up to 1TB of RAM, and up to 20TB of storage.

The ThinkStation P620 is designed to meet and exceed the needs of professional 3D designers, AI tasks, engineers, and artists. To keep things cool, Lenovo said it worked with AMD to design a “unique air-cooled solution” that involves a custom heat sink.
