Learn about cross-save and the character creator in Baldur’s Gate 3

Baldur’s Gate 3 is almost upon us, with the early access launching on October 6, 2020, but that isn’t stopping Larian Studios from trickling out more tantalizing information about the game ahead of launch. The first post has to do with the game’s cross-save functionality, and how that will work for players. The second post, put up on Steam, goes over the game’s custom character creator, and some of the various options that will be available for players.

Regarding cross-save first, Larian Studios is debuting their new Larian Account system, which is an entirely optional account that can sync save data between Stadia, Steam, and GOG. In the future, Larian Studios says this will also implement cross-play between those platforms, but that feature won’t be available on launch day. Players can sign-up for a Larian Account right now if they want, but it’s not necessary to play the game.

In a much larger blog post, Larian Studios also detailed the very impressive looking character creator for Baldur’s Gate 3, which features gorgeous models and an absurd level of customization for players to choose from. 16 different races, 6 different classes, six different abilities, numerous skills, over 150 available faces, and an astronomical number of ways you can customize your character means no two playthroughs will be the same.

Larian Studios also discusses how your character will fundamentally change the way the game moves around you, with different races being treated differently, and classes changing how you have to approach scenarios. It all looks awesome, and it seems Larian Studios may have a true winner of an RPG on their hands if the game is able to deliver on the sheer amount of depth it promises.

Of course, players won’t have long to wait before the first Early Access build drops on October 6, 2020.
