Kuo: Vanilla iPhone 12 to be the bestseller of new lineup

Apple is going to launch its new iPhone lineup tomorrow at the “Hi, Speed” event. We expect four new smartphones, and according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the second cheapest option will rake in most of the cash at launch.

According to Kuo, the bestseller of the new lineup will be the regular Apple iPhone 12, with an expected share of 40% of the total shipments.

Kuo: Regular iPhone 12 to be the bestseller of all four new Apple phones

His predictions say that the iPhone 12 mini, the iPhone 12 Pro, and the iPhone 12 Pro Max will each get about 20% of the total and half that of their vanilla sibling – the one expected to come with a 6.1” screen and two cameras on the back.

Kuo also revealed that although the iPhone 12 mini will be the cheapest of the quartet, it won’t be appealing to customers due to its small size. Current rumors say it will start from $699, while the basic iPhone 12 will cost $799. Customers are likely to skip on the thought of whether their iPhone is 5G-capable or not and will concentrate on the price tag when considering a purchase.

The iPhone 12 bunch is expected to have slightly poorer performance on the market, compared with the iPhone 11 lineup. One reason is the later launch, the other is the COVID-19 pandemic and its effect on the economy.
