July 2021 security update hits the Galaxy A50

Samsung had started rolling out the July 2021 security update to its smartphones and tablets in the last week of June. The Galaxy S10 was the first smartphone to get the update. Eventually, the Galaxy S10 Lite, Galaxy S20, Galaxy S21, Galaxy Note 10, Galaxy Note 20, and other smartphones got the update as well. Now, the company has started rolling out the update to the Galaxy A50.

The carrier-locked variant of the Galaxy A50 (SM-A505U) has started getting a new software update on Sprint’s network in the US. The latest update, which has firmware version A505USQSDDUF1, includes the July 2021 security patch. According to Samsung’s own documentation, the July 2021 patch fixes more than 20 vulnerabilities related to user privacy and data security. It could also include a fix for the Android Auto bug that was discovered a few weeks ago.

If you are a Galaxy A50 user on Sprint’s network in the US, you can check for the latest update by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install. You can also flash the update manually after downloading the latest firmware file from our firmware database. The update could roll out to the Galaxy A50 on more US networks over the next few days.

Samsung had launched the Galaxy A50 in early 2019 with Android 9 Pie. The company had released the Android 10-based One UI 2 update to the smartphone in March 2020 and the Android 11 update in March 2021.
