Is Forza Horizon 5 coming to PS4 and PS5?

Forza Horizon 5 is now available to millions of players all over the world, and has quickly established itself as one of the best racing games you can play. The colossal and expertly engineered open-world racing title from Playground Games and Xbox Game Studios is the latest in the Forza Horizon franchise, a series that has been a staple on Xbox consoles for years. With Forza Horizon 5 taking the series and the genre to all-new heights, however, some are wondering whether FH5 will ever come to PlayStation.

Forza Horizon 5 is not available on PlayStation consoles, be it PS4 or PS5, and there’s little-to-no chance that the epic racing adventure will ever come to Sony’s gaming platform. The Forza franchise, both the simulation Motorsport and the open-world Horizon titles, have always been exclusive to the Xbox ecosystem, a fact that is highly unlikely to change anytime soon.

Past Xbox Game Studios exceptions like Deathloop, Minecraft, and Minecraft Dungeons don’t make the possibility any more likely, as each of those games had its own unique justifications for launching on PlayStation (Deathloop was already promised as a PlayStation timed exclusive, and Mojang Studios has a long-lasting cross-platform philosophy). Even so, there are still plenty of ways to enjoy Forza Horizon 5, more so than previous entries in the series.

Many ways to Forza

Forza Horizon 5 may not be coming to PlayStation, but it’s still available on a wider number of platforms than any Forza game that came before it. There are plenty of ways to enjoy FH5 and everything it has to offer, even if you typically only game on a PlayStation console.

Forza Horizon 5 is now available on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, and PC, including through Steam. However, Forza Horizon 5 is also available through Xbox Game Pass, and, most importantly, Xbox Cloud Gaming. From day one, Forza Horizon 5 is available on tablets and phones, PCs and laptops, and Xbox consoles, and players can access the title on all of those platforms through one gaming subscription: Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

Forza Horizon 5’s inclusion on Xbox Cloud Gaming means you can play the latest open-world racing gem from your mobile device or tablet, simply by subscribing to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and hooking up a Bluetooth controller. The game also takes advantage of new custom Xbox Series X server hardware, so it looks and plays great at 1080p and 60 FPS when streamed over the cloud. Right now, Forza Horizon 5 doesn’t support touch controls, so you will have to have a Bluetooth controller or other Xbox Cloud Gaming controller, but it’s still more convenient than buying an entire Xbox console or PC.

The PlayStation platform may never see a native port of a Forza game, but there are still many ways to play Forza Horizon 5. Of course, PlayStation players can also look forward to the arrival of Gran Turismo 7 next year. While not a direct competitor for Forza Horizon 5 thanks to entirely different focuses (Gran Turismo games are much more simulation-centric), it still looks to be a fantastic addition to the genre.
