Huawei Watch GT2 Pro adds moon tracking with Moonphase Collection

The Huawei Watch GT2 Pro has had more editions than the Gideon Bible. But while that’s definitely not true what is concrete fact is that we’ve got another twist of the popular smartwatch – the Huawei Watch GT2 Pro Moonphase Collection has just gone live.

Built around the same design aspects that wowed us in our review of the original GT2 Pro – a titanium case with sapphire glass and a ceramic back, giving it a premium finish that we’re not used to seeing from the budget end of the market – the Moonphase Collection’s USP is the bespoke widgets on board.

When you raise your wrist, the new watch face will give you the times for sunrise, sunset, moonrise and moonset (is moonset a thing?).

On top of that the Moonphase subdial will provide info on the 8 types of moon phases; such as new moon, full moon, first quarter moon, as well as tide information.

There are also new watch faces centred around star signs and a neat analog face that also incorporates all of this lunar information too.

As well as the new moon features the latest GT2 Pro model also boasts the same spec sheet we saw on the original; namely 47mm oversized case with a bright 454 x 454 AMOLED display, golf and skiing tracking modes, and a new focus on outdoor tracking with weather system tracking and tide tides, as well as back-to-start navigation.

The new edition has only been detailed in the Middle East so far, we’ll keep tabs on any launch details for the Western world. US readers, don’t hold your breath.

It follows hot on the heels of the Huawei Watch GT2 Pro ECG, which recently went on sale in China.

The Huawei Watch GT line-up is one of the better fitness-focused smartwatches ranges on offer at the moment. you can buy at the moment.

There’s the standard Watch GT 2, the sportier-looking Watch GT 2e and the flagship Watch GT 2 Pro, of which this Moonphase Collection looks to be an offshoot (and we’ve not even mentioned the GT 2 Porsche Edition).

All of these smartwatches run on Huawei’s own operating system after it took the decision to step away from Google’s Wear OS.
