Huawei Watch GT Runner, MateBook E, MateStation X and VR Glass 6DoF announced

Huawei held a big conference in China today where it announced a slew of new devices. There’s the new smartwatch dubbed Huawei Watch GT Runner, the Windows 2-in-1 convertible MateBook E, the MateStation X desktop PC and VR Glass 6DoF glasses.

Huawei Watch GT Runner

Following the Watch GT 3 series announcement in October, Huawei is bringing a sports-oriented smartwatch dubbed Watch GT Runner. As the name suggests it’s a sportier version of the Watch GT 3 with a reinforced polymer fiber construction weighing in at 38.5 grams compared to the Watch GT 3 Pro’s 63 grams.

Watch GT Runner comes in at 46mm and sports a round 1.43 inch AMOLED screen. There’s Huawei TruSeen 5.0 optical heart rate module, SpO2 measurements and activity tracking for over 100 sports modes.

You also get 4GB storage, GNSS positioning, NFC and Bluetooth connectivity though no cellular connection. Watch GT Runner also has an onboard microphone and speaker meaning you can take calls from your connected phone. The whole package is 5ATM water-resistant. Battery life is rated at 14 days on a single charge.

Huawei MateBook E

MateBook E is the all-new 2-in-1 tablet in Huawei’s ecosystem. It runs full-fledged Windows 11 and is powered by Intel’s 11-gen core i5 and i7 chipsets and Intel Iris X graphics. All versions come with 12.6-inch OLED screens with a 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution and Huawei M-Stylus support.

Huawei is also offering a bundled smart magnetic keyboard or slide keyboard reminiscent of Apple’s Magic Keyboard depending on the MateBook E configuration. There’s 8/16GB LPDDR4x RAM and 256/512GB PCIe NVMe SSDs on deck. You have an 8MP front-facing camera and a 13MP shooter around the back.

I/O consists of a single Thunderbolt 4 interface which also handles charging and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The MateBook E supports WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity. It also packs a 42 Wh battery, quad speakers and quad mics.

The core i5 model with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage and smart magnetic keyboard starts at CNY 5,999 ($940). The top of the line core i7 version with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage and bundled slide keyboard and M-Pencil stylus will sell for CNY 8,699 ($1,365). First sales tip off on December 1.

Huawei MateStation X

If you’re in the market for an all-in-one desktop then Huawei’s MateStation X offers a large 28.2-inch IPS LCD with 3840 x 2560 pixel resolution display, AMD Ryzen 5 5600H/ Ryzen 7 5800H processors and Radeon graphics. There’s 16GB RAM and 512GB M.2 NVMe storage onboard while the software side is covered by Windows 11. Huawei is bundling a wireless keyboard with a built-in fingerprint for authentication as well as a Bluetooth mouse.

MateStation X starts at CNY 9,999 ($1,570) for the Ryzen 5 5600H version and goes up to CNY 11,999 ($1,880) for the Ryzen 7 5800H model. Sales in China begin on December 12.

Huawei VR Glass 6DoF

The last bit of new kit from Huawei is the VR Glass 6DoF. It’s a gaming VR headset with two dedicated controllers. The headset offers dual LCD screen at 2.1 inches with a single-eye resolution of 1600 x 1600 pixels and a binocular resolution of 3200 x 1600 pixels.

The headset weighs in at 188 grams and has a 90-degree field of view. The two lenses are adjustable for users with myopia of down to -7.00.

Huawei VR Glass 6DoF will retail for CNY 3,999 ($627) with first sales in China tipping off on November 26.
