Here’s the release date for Tormented Souls on Xbox Series X and PC

Longtime fans of iconic horror franchises like Resident Evil and Silent Hill have another haunting title to keep on their radars. Tormented Souls pays tribute to the incredible horror games that came before it and offers players a way to experience a modern take on this classic formula. Dual Effects and Abstract Digital Works just dropped a new cinematic trailer for Tormented Souls which gives us a better idea of what to expect from the game’s story in addition to confirming the Xbox Series X and PC release date of Aug. 27, 2021.

Players take control of Caroline Walker after she awakens to find herself trapped in an abandoned mansion. It’s your mission to investigate the disappearances of two twin girls and uncover the mysteries of Winterlake. In classic survival horror fashion, you’ll need to scavenge for resources, battle horrifying monsters, and solve elaborate puzzles to escape this nightmare. Much like The Medium, Tormented Souls also features fixed camera angles that help deliver a terrifying sense of nostalgia.

From what we’ve seen of the game so far, Tormented Souls appears to be dripping with quintessential ’90s horror. From the character design to the story, and even the enemy design, it’s clear the teams at Dual Effects and Abstract Digital Works want to deliver something special for players like myself who’ve been playing survival horror games since the original PlayStation era.
