Forza Horizon 5 is a critically acclaimed open-world racing game, and developer Playground Games and publisher Xbox Game Studios are committed to perpetually adding fresh content to the game through the Festival Playlist. Every week, the playlist introduces players to new events, challenges to complete, and rewards to earn. Occasionally, however, challenges can ramp up the difficulty or be unclear in their descriptions and instructions.

From tricky Daily Challenges to enigmatic Treasure Hunts, this is everything you need to know to complete those Forza Horizon 5 challenges and obtain every exclusive reward in one of the best racing games on Xbox.

How can I complete the Festival Playlist challenges in Forza Horizon 5?

The Forza Horizon 5 Festival Playlist features a rotating selection of possible challenges and events, most of which are fairly straightforward. However, every so often FH5’s Festival Playlist will present players with a particularly difficult challenge, either through design, confusing or unclear instructions, or even in-game bugs that prevent the challenge from being completed like normal.

Winter, Series 6 — “T-Rex on the Run” Collectibles Challenge

The latest Forza Horizon 5 Series 6 season brings another brand-new collectible, this time in the form of miniature T-Rexes that are scattered around Mexico. Unlike the paint barrels of old, these collectibles appear to be genuinely hidden around the map, making it potentially difficult to find and smash 15 of them. Here’s what you need to know to complete the “T-Rex on the Run” Collectibles Challenge as part of Forza Horizon 5’s Series 6 Festival Playlist.

  • Description: FInd and smash 15 T-Rexes hidden around Mexico.
  • Reward: Three Playlist Points and the Creative Tee Vanity Item.

You can use any car you desire to complete “T-Rex on the Run” as long as it’s able to get up enough speed to smash the things properly. As for finding the collectibles to smash, Playground Games seems to have hidden these statues quite well. There are, ideally, at least 15 T-rex statues sprinkled throughout Forza Horizon 5, but it appears that most players (myself included) are at least discovering the one hidden by the Runway Danger Sign (shown above).

You can find the statue just behind the Danger Sign ramp, looking out over the river and the expanse of land. Players will want to jump using the ramp it has stuck its tail through. Once you have located the T-rex, do not smash it. We can actually use just one to complete the entire challenge.

Before you smash the T-rex statue, head to the “Online” tab of the Pause Menu and ensure you’re in the Horizon Solo game mode and not Horizon Life. This is the offline mode, and means that the Rewind function also reverses damage done to the environment and collectibles (it does not when you are online). While you’re at it, head to the “Difficulty” screen in “Settings” and double-check that your “Rewind” function is turned on and usable.

Once this is done, line yourself up with the T-rex statue (to save yourself some time, pause for a few seconds — this way you always rewind back to the same spot). Smash the colorful collectible, rewind, and repeat 15 times (or until the challenge completes). This method is a little time-consuming, but it’s better than methodically scouring the entire map for 14 other statues to smash.

As time goes on, it’s practically guaranteed that more T-rex statues will be found by other players around the map, if you want to complete the challenge in a more “legitimate” fashion. In the meantime, this is the most efficient way to complete the “T-Rex on the Run” Collectibles Challenge in Forza Horizon 5 and collect the rewards.

Winter, Series 6 — “#BearNecessities” Photo Challenge

Continuing the “Creator” theme in the series, the “#BearNecessities” Photo Challenge tasks players with photographing a specific car at a specific mural in a specific location. The most difficult aspect of this challenge is simply knowing where to look for the mural.

  • Description: Photograph the 2009 Ford Focus RS at the Farid Rueda Bear Mural in Playa Azul
  • Rewards: Two Playlist Points and the Farid Rueda’s Bear Relaxed Fit Tee Vanity Item

Your first step is to secure and drive a 2009 Ford Focus RS, which can be obtained from the Autoshow for a mere 25,000 Credits. You don’t have to modify or customize the car in any way to complete this challenge. After you’ve acquired the required vehicle, head to Playa Azul, which is the town located on the East Coast (right-hand side) of Forza Horizon 5’s map.

If you drive down the road closest to the beach in Playa Azul until you reach the Playa Azul Circuit Road Race, you should notice a dirt road heading into town (either just after or just before the Race Event, depending on where you started). Near this road is a colorful multi-story building with Farid Rueda’s Bear Mural adorning its side. You can pinpoint the mural’s exact location using the images above and below.

Once you’ve tracked down the mural, it’s just a matter of snapping a quick shot with both your 2009 Ford Focus RS and Farid Rueda’s Bear Mural present in the image. Using the Horizon Promo “Quickshot” does work for this challenge. Once you’ve taken an acceptable photo, you’ll drive away with two more Playlist Points and a new Vanity Item.

The challenges continue

As the Forza Horizon 5 map shifts through the seasons every week, a new batch of challenges appear. If any mission poses a unique challenge to players, we’ll update this section with instructions on how to (if you can) complete it.
